Documents required for a South Africa Visa

Mandatory docs

1. Passport

   Requires physical

   • Passport should be valid for at least 6 months from the date of departure from South Africa with atleast 2 blank pages.
   • Connecting old passport is to be submitted as well.
   • Handwritten passport and passports valid for more than 10 years are not accepted.

2. Photographs

   Requires physical

   • Digital Photographs, specifications: 35 mm X 45 mm, clicked within the last 3 months, 80% face, clicked against a plain white background with matt finish.

Travel Details

1. Flight Tickets

   • Copy of confirmed Arrival and Departure tickets.

2. Hotel Reservation

   • Copy of confirmed Hotel reservation showcasing the Hotel Address, Contact Number, Applicant's Name and Dates of Reservation for all days of travel.
   • Proof of hotel booking, (verifiable) stating the name, passport number of applicant(s) and duration of visit, physical address, as well as contact details of the hotel as well as authorized signature’s name, designation and signature.
   • Please note hotel bookings must be booked online or booked by South African host with stamp from south African hotel/company/ or travel agency.

3. Daily Itinerary

   • Detailed daily plan for applicant's stay in South Africa (Only for Delhi jurisdiction)

Financial Details

1. Bank Statement

   Requires physical

   • Applicant has to present either their own bank-statement, or the sponsor's statement if they are sponsored by a blood relative or spouse.
   • Sponsor's 3 month bank statement with bank's sign & seal (in english) showing sufficient balance (approximately INR 80,000 per applicant) and cash flow.
   • South African Bank Statement has to be stamped & signed by SA POLICE as well as SA BANK

Occupation Details

1. Employed

   Requires physical

   • Leave Sanction letter with the company letter head.
   • Any one of the below letter from the company with the letterhead along with the applicant name, designation, and signature of the authorized signatory: No Objection Certificate (or) Company Appointment Letter (if applicant recently swithched the company) (or) Payslips of last 3 months.
   • Original covering letter signed by the applicant stating the name, passport number of applicant(s) and duration of visit. Letter must have the physical address, as well as contact details of authorized signature’s name, designation and signature (should clearly mention who will bear the expenses of the trip)

2. Self-employed

   Requires physical

   • Cover Letter, with the business letterhead.
   • Business registration certificate(Notarised); can be any of GST certificate, Certificate of Incorporation, Partnership deed, MOA, etc.
   • Add valid proprietorship proof.

3. Student

   • Any one of the below letter from the Institute containing the applicants name:
   • Bonafide certificate (or) Leave letter from educational institution (or) Student identity card copy.

4. Retired

   • Retirement Proof (OR)
   • Pension slip for the last 3 months.

Conditional Requirements

1. Rental agreement

   • Notarised Rental agreement; can be either one of 100/- stamp paper (or) online rental agreement.
   • Applicable, if passport is issued in a different jurisdiction from the jurisdiction of visa application. The jurisdiction is given below:
   • Mumbai Jurisdiction: Maharashtra,Madhya Pradesh,Gujarat,Goa,Telangana,Kerala,Karnataka,Tamilnadu & Andhra Pradesh.
   • New Delhi Jurisdiction: Rest of all states.

2. Sponsor documents

   • Sponsorship letter from the sponsor stating the applicants details and particulars for the trip.
   • Employment proof of the sponsor.
   • Bank-statement of the sponsor,
   • Government ID proof (Passport, Driving license, PAN card) of the sponsor if the sponsor is from India (or) If the sponsor is from South Africa, then passport/driving license copy of the sponsor

3. Staying with friends and family

   • Invitation Letter attested by Commission of Oaths in South Africa mentioning the name/passport number of invitees & duration/purpose of stay
   • Inviting person's ID/passport attested by Commission of Oaths in South Africa
   • Inviting person's permanent address & contact number.

4. Marriage certificate

   Requires physical

   • Notarised marriage certificate applicable, if the spouses name is not mentioned at the back of the passport where the spouse is being sponsored by other spouse

5. Minor

   Requires physical

   • Applicants below the age of 18 have to present their notarised birth certificate.

Mandatory Details

1. Special Requirements:

   • All documents should be in English.
   • If a document is in any other language, an official translation of the same should be submitted
   • Embassy or Consulate may request additional documents or personal interview with the applicant on a case-to-case basis.
